This painting bears the hand-written name ‘Wutawuta Tjangala’ in Peter Fannin’s hand verso.
Howard Patrick acquired this painting during a work trip for the Department of Aboriginal Affairs in the 1970’s. Shortly after his arrival at a camp called Yai Yai, near Pupunya, he was approached by Uta Uta who, rather forcibly, insisted he buy one of his paintings. At the time Howard’s exposure and knowledge of Aboriginal art was limited however he was struck by the culture, history and longlines he knew were depicted in the works produced by the Pintjupi artists.
