Introducing D Lan Galleries
As we celebrate ten years since our inception, we are proud to introduce a dynamic new visual identity and website which reflect our evolution as a gallery, and our position as a leading international platform for the presentation and appreciation of Australian First Nations art.
Since 2016, D Lan Galleries (formerly, D’Lan Contemporary) has been driven by the belief that that Australian First Nations art can and should stand alongside the greatest contemporary art in the world.
Alongside our flagship Melbourne gallery, our Sydney and New York exhibition spaces facilitate an ambitious international exhibition and events programme that has—in recent years—expanded to include an increased presence at Australian and international art fairs such as Frieze Masters, London and TEFAF, Maastricht as well as collaborations with international partner venues—each serving as vital platforms to raise awareness of and appreciation for Australian First Nations art globally.
The rebrand is defined by the gallery’s five core pillars:
- Connoisseurship: sourcing and exhibiting the finest works of art that honour and represent the cultural significance and artistic innovation of Australian First Nations art
- Scholarship: academic research and scholarly essays which place these works of art within their rightful art historical context
- Education: an ambitious talks and events programme with a focus on raising awareness, understanding and appreciation for First Nations art and culture, globally
- Provenance: rigorous provenance protocols which align with those of major international institutions and galleries
- Ethics: strict ethical practices and a commitment to share 30% of annual net profits with artists, artist projects and communities
Director & Founder, D’Lan Davidson said, “Ten years on from when I founded the business, this exciting rebrand articulates who we are as a gallery today, and formalises our vision for the future. It also supports our mission to elevate the art of our First Nations artists to their rightful place within the international contemporary art world.”
