We recently visited Carey in his home to speak to him about his collection, of which he has said, ‘This was never about acquisition for its own sake. It grew out of time spent on Country and learning from artists. Honey Ant Travelling Dreaming, in particular, by Kaapa Tjampitjinpa, carries an extraordinary cultural weight, it is both visually powerful and deeply grounded in knowledge systems that predate Western art history by millennia.’
